Rescue Operation For The Men Trapped Under a Collapsed Tunnel in Uttarakhand
There are 41 labourers trapped under the silkyara tunnel in uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The tunnel was under construction on the gangotri – yamunotri axis in uttarkashi district. The accident occurred on 12 November and the rescue operation is going on since 12 days now.
The national disaster response force (NDRF) entered the partially collapsed tunnel on Thursday.
Efforts are being constantly made to successfully rescue the labourers from inside the tunnel. The sides are being scraped carefully to have more space. The precautionary measures are most important to eradicate the risk of further collapsing of the tunnel. This will risk the 41 lives trapped inside.
The men trapped belong from states all over India and the families are also present on the site of accident. The essential survival supplies like medecines, first aid, vitamin, some cooked food, water and fresh air are being pumped inside the tunnel through a high pressure pump in a 65 metre long pipeline, which has become the only way of survival. Drones are being used to reach the men inside and to look for the condition in there.
