A deadly train accident in Andhra Pradesh 13 dead and many injured
On the evening of October 29, 2023 around 7 – 7:30pm, two passenger train collided in Andhra Pradesh between Alamanda and Kanatakapalli railway stations in Vizianagram district.
The two trains were Vishakhapatnam-Palasa passenger express and Vishakhapatnam – Rayagada passenger special train. The collision happened when the Palasa train was waiting for a signal and was was hit from behind by the Rayagada, derailing its three coaches as an impact. The rescue team worked the whole night to rescue passengers from the derailed coaches.
A high level inquiry has been ordered by the PM with compensation of 2 lakh for the family of deceased has also been announced while expressing his condolences to the victim’s families.
Injured were taken to the hospital in Vizianagram and Vishakhapatnam.
